Help Derek & Jill Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Hello friends and family,

Derek and Jillian Momber (formerly Kujan, my cousin) and their children, Paityn and Mason, live in Hudson, Florida. Located in Pasco County, Hudson took a hard hit from Hurricane Helene. The storm surge hit overnight on Thursday, September 26th, flooding Jill and Derek’s home with waist-deep water and causing overwhelming damage. Fortunately, the whole family, Yeezy the Cat included, were able to escape unharmed!

Not only were the majority of their possessions destroyed, but so were Derek’s tools and business supplies. Derek owns his own business, Pasco Tampa House Painting, so the inability to work on top of the personal loss will hit the family especially hard.

The Mombers were back at their home as soon as the water receded to begin the cleanup process, but the process feels daunting. They will certainly seek whatever emergency aid is available, but time and resources are of the essence. Jill and Derek aren’t in the habit of asking for handouts. They are figure-it-out, do-the-work kind of people….but the devastation left by Helene is extreme. Anything you can contribute will help get them through this immediate emergency and help them provide some sense of stability to their kids.

Don’t worry if all you can kick in is $5. Jill and Derek know how to make a little go a long way. When times are dark, any act of compassion makes the world a little lighter.

I will direct all donations collected to Jill. The family will use the money for

displacement costs while they are unable to live in their current home and expenses related to cleaning, repairing, and replacement of an entire household of possessions.
