Help Support the Family of James Robert Mohnke Sr.
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, our beloved James Robert Mohnke Sr., age 72, of Allendale, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and his faithful dog, Huck.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife and longtime partner Sherry Mohnke (Szczepanek); his children Wayne (Nancy Chandler), Jimmy (Michelle), Ricky (Alexis), Jake (Taylor), and Ashleigh; many cherished grandchildren; He is also survived by Sherry’s parents, Debbie and Gary Szczepanek, and his brothers-in-law, who loved and admired him deeply. His best friend Tom Widerski; and his special niece Alexandria Keen, along with his siblings, nieces, and nephews who all held a special place in his heart.
Jim worked at West Michigan Piano for nearly 40 years and was admired for his dedication, craftsmanship, and kindness. A simple man with a big heart, he loved the outdoors — hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. A proud Michigan sports fan, Jim never missed a game, faithfully cheering on the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions no matter the season or score.
Even through his second battle with cancer, Jim faced every day with courage, humility, and love. He never complained and continued to fight with dignity and strength. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
As the family prepares to celebrate Jim’s life, we are asking for help to cover funeral expenses and remaining medical bills from his long battle with cancer. Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference and help ease the financial burden on Sherry and the family during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at MKD Funeral Home (Allendale), 6651 Scott St. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 12–2 p.m. prior to the service.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support as we honor the life of such an incredible man.
