Hi, we are the Miller's. Just over a year ago, our family’s life was turned upside down. Two back-to-back hurricanes in Florida destroyed nearly everything we owned. We lost our home, our belongings, and our sense of stability overnight. Since then, we have been trying every possible avenue to rebuild, but we’ve reached a point where we simply can’t do it alone.
FEMA has been a constant battle. We are still fighting for assistance with our vehicles and rental support, and despite losing virtually all of our personal property, we were given only $3,200 — barely a fraction of what was needed to replace furniture, clothing, essentials, and everything our children used daily. We have contacted every government and community organization we can find, but each one has told us there is nothing more they can do.
I have been unemployed despite sending out over 200 job applications, and every day that passes brings more uncertainty. While I continue searching and interviewing, the financial burden has fallen almost entirely on my wife. She is doing everything she can, but the strain has become overwhelming. We are trying our absolute best to stay afloat, but after a year of fighting through disaster recovery, setbacks, and unexpected expenses, we are at a breaking point.
This month, we simply cannot cover our rent, and we have just today and tomorrow to make the payment. We are asking for help only because we have exhausted every option and are truly out of time.
We need to raise $2,500 to keep our family housed while we continue working through FEMA appeals and I keep pushing forward with my job search. Any amount — even a few dollars — brings us one step closer to safety and stability.
We are humbled to even make this request, and it is not something we take lightly. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support, prayers, or shares. Your kindness means more than you know.
With gratitude,
The Millers
