Our very dear friend Steve or Stevie D as he is known by some, is a devoted husband to Caroline and Papa to his grandkids (Jovie, Cruz, Presley, Roman and a new grandson coming in November) was diagnosed with throat cancer in April 2025. With what he thought was a persistent case of tonsilitis, it was then that the cancer was discovered. Then in August, Caroline received the devastating news that she was no longer employed by The American Red Cross after a nearly 15-year career and commitment to their mission to help others in need. This has left them with no income or health insurance. Caroline’s unemployment is still pending after 5 weeks, even though the ARC ensured her she would be eligible.
For those of you who know Steve, you know that he is an extraordinary human being. He is kind, thoughtful and unbelievably caring. Steve and Caroline have always put their family and friends at the center of their lives and are always one of the first to offer help to others. They are humble, kind souls who never ask for help, but now they are facing a challenge that no one should face.
Steve has completed his treatments to fight the cancer. Results of a successful treatment will not be known for approximately 3 to 6 months. The medical bills and regular household bills are coming in the mail every day and stacking up, unpaid.
Because of this, Steve will be unable to work and may not be able to return until he regains his strength. Short-term disability is not an option as Steve is self-employed. Medical expenses are now uncovered and with the everyday necessities of life, money is gotten tighter and tighter. The Miller’s personal savings, and health savings account have been depleted due to Steve’s cancer diagnosis and Caroline’s full hysterectomy in January.
Steve is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there sharing his talent (building, fixing, and hammering), giving of his time and support. He is that person that would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needs it. So much so that Steve’s checking the to-do list before his treatments, so that no one is waiting for him to see their projects come to fruition.
Let us show the Millers, they are not alone. This fundraiser is our way to wrap this incredible family in love and support. Your donation, no matter the size, will help ease their financial burden so they can focus on what matters most: Steve's health and state of well-being. Everything we can do to surround him with love and support so that Steve can focus on beating this thing. Please help spread the word, consider sharing the link with your network of family and friends.
Thank you.
