Help the Miller's after Housefire

Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Liz Kiefer (Ervin), a friend of the Miller's for as long as I can remember. Tom and Lenora are lifelong members of Lemont, have raised their children here and have been a part of our community for many, many years.

Tragically last night (04/12/2022), the Miller's suffered a tragedy when their home caught fire. Losing all of their possessions and their home is deemed uninhabitable. Tom did suffer minor burns but should recover.

*Press Release*
House Fire, 20W461 South Frontage Road, April 12, 2022
Contact: Deputy Chief of Operations Matt Peksa

On Tuesday April 12, 2022 at 10:43 p.m., the Lemont Fire
Protection District responded to a house fire located at
20W461 South Frontage Road. The first Lemont Fire District
unit arrived in nine minutes and reported a working fire on
the first floor in a single family home spreading quickly to
the second floor. Initial responding crews met with the
residents who reported everyone was out of the house. Fire
companies deployed a hose line and opened the ceilings on
the second floor, exposing a well involved attic fire.
Additional companies searched the house and confirmed
there were no victims. Crews attempted an interior attack
but had to switch to a defensive strategy because of rapidly
changing fire conditions. The fire was brought under control in approximately 1 hour. Crews remained on the scene extinguishing hot spots and investigating the cause for another 3 hours.

One resident was injured with a minor burn. Due to the significant fire damage, along with smoke and water damage, the home was uninhabitable, displacing two residents. Damage estimates are not available at the time of this release, and the fire remains under investigation by the MABAS 19 Fire Investigators and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force.

The incident was upgraded to a full-still alarm bringing approximately 35 firefighters to the scene, staffing five engines, two ladder trucks, two ambulances and other command officers. The fire was fought with assistance from 10 surrounding fire agencies, which provided on-scene support and station coverage.

The Lemont Fire Protection District reminds everyone to have working smoke detectors in their homes. Have an escape plan, practice it and be prepared to use it in the event of a fire. In an emergency, do not delay exiting the house to search for pets or other belongings.

If you are not able to donate monetarily, Tom & Lenora's two young granddaughters were also living in the home along with their mother, Erica. Lilliana is a size 8 in clothes and a size 1 in shoes, and Piper is a 4t and size 10 shoe.

I am working on getting Tom and Lenora's sizing for clothing and will update this once I can confirm.  In the meantime, if you have items to donate, until I can confirm a place that can accept the items please reach out to me on facebook, Elizabeth Kiefer, and I will be sure to delivery any items to the Miller's.

Thank you all!
