Help the Meulebroecks: Facing Cancer & Birth
Donation protected
Help Kayla, 35 years old, and her family as she fights breast cancer while also welcoming their second baby!
In November of 2024, Kayla, her husband, Mark, and their one year old daughter, Maeve, were overjoyed to learn that they would be welcoming a baby boy in June of 2025. Unfortunately, in February 2025, Kayla found a lump in her breast that was later revealed to be Stage 1, triple negative Breast Cancer. Upon more investigation, it was determined that she was BRCA positive, which is a genetic mutation that without treatment can significantly increase her risk of reoccurrence and development of other female related cancers. Surrounded by a team of fabulous medical professionals, plans upon plans were quickly developed to save both Kayla and the baby's lives. Within a week of her diagnosis Kayla began receiving chemo therapy which will continue until the baby's arrival in June. After the baby's arrival she will immediately have her first surgery and restart a second round of more aggressive chemotherapy which will entail weekly treatments for another three months. Once she finishes chemotherapy the plans will be made for multiple intensive surgeries to prevent future reoccurrence.
We are raising money to help support Kayla and the rest of the Meulebroeck family as they navigate a time that is supposed to be filled with joy, and has instead become darkened by disease.
All donations will be used by the Meulebroeck family to help cover loss of income, medical costs, and the costs of a new baby. Specifically, Kayla is currently working when she can in between appointments, and her need to rest due to pregnancy and chemo therapy symptoms. Following the baby's arrival Kayla it is unknown how much work she will miss but it will be substantial. Her husband Mark has been a pillar of support, going with Kayla to all appointments and handling all logistics while Kayla focuses on getting well. Yet, Mark is self employed and therefore, any missed work is a direct loss of income. The magnitude of medical expenses will include but are not limited to, labor and delivery fees, chemo therapy, multiple surgeries and specialist doctor visits.
This sums to a substantial financial hit for the Meulebroeck family. The Meulebroeck family would greatly appreciate any financial donations that would take some financial burden off them. Here is also the link to Kayla's baby registry if you would like to support the family that way. https://www.amazon.com/baby-reg/kayla-meulebroeck-may-2025-prineville/3TGP5Q2Y3IGYK
Again the Meulebroeck family greatly appreciates any support and well wishes that can be offered to them during this difficult time! Thank you!
Update from Mark 3/28/25
I want to express my great appreciation to all of you for your words, support, and prayers. This has been an extremely humbling few days for me, personally. In the past, whenever a large unexpected expanse or challenge arose, I have always been prepared, or have just worked more, if needed. This is the most vulnerable I can ever recall feeling, knowing I can't work more to offset these challenges without sacrificing the well being of my wife and soon to be two kids. To experience the outpouring of support we have, has been very emotional. I hope one day, we both are able to pay forward the love and generosity we have received.
