Help the Metcalfe Family After Being Displaced
Donation protected
The beloved Metcalfe family has been displaced and are suffering from further medical issues as a result of a severely hazardous airborne mold in their apartment. For those reading this who may not know the Metcalfe's personally, they are Joe and Brooke as well as their 3 beautiful children, Aiden, Jude (who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis) and Charlotte (who has suffered multiple seizures as a result of the toxic mold).
Here's the full story:
-After 2 months of Brooke suffering from vertigo, memory loss, headaches and fatigue the Metcalfe family tested their apartment for mold and discovered a severely hazardous airborne mold in their apartment
-The decline in health was the indicator and consistent with the mold that was found: Chaetomium
-After learning more about Chaetomium they discovered it was likely the cause of Charlotte's abnormal seizure in April, the first seizure she had ever had
-Upon discovery of the effects of Chaetomium and the threat of further health concerns, particularly for Charlotte and for their son Jude who has Cystic Fibrosis, the Metcalfes abandoned their apartment and started living in hotels and staying with friends during an investigation of their property
-Unintended exposure to small amounts of the mold from their belongings brought about a second seizure for Charlotte
-In September, the Metcalfes formally cancelled their lease
-Remediation of their possessions is extremely difficult with this particular mold and impossible to guarantee. They were advised by several mold experts that due to the severity of the health risks the only safe way to ensure non-exposure is to give up most of their possessions, particularly anything porous, including paper, wood, pictures, paintings, mattresses, furniture, stuffed animals, clothing etc..
-Since being away from the mold health has improved although Charlotte has experienced further episodes which are likely due to the mycotoxins still in her body.
-The financial costs have taken its toll, having to pay for mold testing and investigation, hotels, increased food costs, eating out, moving / emptying the home, medical supplies, detox supplements, etc.
The funds raised here will be used to help get the Metcalfe's into a safe and permanent home, which of course will need basic furnishings, bedding, towels etc, as they had to get rid of the vast majority of their belongings (almost everything has had to go which has been an emotional hardship in and of itself).
The funds will also be used toward necessary treatments and supplements that are required to flush out the toxins and hopefully heal Charlotte and stop the seizures.
To know the Metcalfes is to love them - they are extremely involved at their children's school and an absolute asset to the community. They are grateful for the support that they have recieved (such as being able to stay temporarily with friends from their children's school), but we want to see this kind and generous family get into a safe and permanent living situation for the health and well-being of them all.
Thank you so much for helping us support the Metcalfe family!
