UPDATE:

Paul passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning. Colleen wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and support over the past year! She especially wanted all of you generous donors know that you allowed her to pay for the funeral when she went today to make the arrangements!

Services will be held Saturday, January 11th at the Mauer Funeral Home starting at noon. we continue to be humbled by the incredible outpouring of support that the family has received. May God bless all of you and your families!

As many of you know, the Metcalf family's world was turned upside down last September when Paul was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Over the past 15 months, Paul and Colleen have tirelessly researched treatment options, visited doctors, and applied for research studies, all while working with their oncology team at Upstate Medical Center. While they use this holiday season to gather as a family and fight for Paul's health, we (his family) are taking on some of the expenses so Paul can achieve some peace of mind!

Paul has never wanted his girls to worry, and we will honor this wish. He is everyone's biggest fan and supporter, an incredible son, husband, dad, and friend, and we have all marveled at his courage and determination to fight this cancer! He has lived his life supporting his daughters, Meghan and Taylor, in every way possible, on and off the field! His relentless support for them took hold one day when he asked BOTH Colleen and Meghan to marry him! If there was a test, he helped them study; a game, he helped them prepare and cheered from the sidelines; a snack they wanted, he got it for them, even if it meant sending boxes to them at college! He has made sure that they are taken care of and has watched his girls grow up like a proud papa bear, protecting them and keeping them safe! All the while, he has loved Colleen more than himself, and those that know them have seen their love grow and their relationship blossom. Even when golfing in Ireland last year, his first call was to Colleen to tell her how happy he was, even though he shot above par! When two people get married, their lives become one, and their love grows every year. If two people were ever meant to be together and mesh their hearts, it is Colleen and Paul!

Paul, Colleen, the girls, and extended family continue to live each day to the fullest, focusing on their blessings and love that they share. Please join us in supporting them in their battle that lies ahead, by donating to help defray their medical expenses and help provide Paul with peace of mind. While they are very private people, we have tried to convince them that this opportunity is a beautiful way that they can allow friends and family to shower them with love, prayers, and financial support.
