The Meilus family could use your support as they endure a very unfortunate series of events - mysterious illnesses, black mold, and the repeated loss of their belongings.

My co-worker Pauline is a mother to 3 young children - ages 1, 5, and 7. Her and her husband noticed their children were having mysterious illnesses for several months, and even specialists were unable to get to the root of why they were sick. One by one, everyone in the Meilus family became ill and affected in some way.

Earlier in the year, their home flooded not once, but twice. They got rid of everything that was visibly damaged by the floods, but unbeknownst to them, hidden water damage was in the ceilings and the walls. Over several months, hidden black mold developed throughout the home, unable to be seen, causing the children's illnesses. Their daughter Luna has now been diagnosed with PANS, an autoimmune neurological condition that is triggered by mold. While living in the home, she began regressing developmentally and refusing to eat altogether. She was not the joyous, smiley girl they once knew.

The Meilus family have therefore had to move out of the home and are living in a camper while the home undergoes extensive mold remediation. Most of their belongings and furniture had to be disposed of. The home they will return to will be down to the studs in many areas. Both of them work, but after the birth of a new child, two floods, hotel costs, and extensive doctors' visits, funds have run out.

Any donated funds will be used to rebuild their home, and for medical treatment for their daughter's autoimmune condition.
