"Five years ago, Stefano opened The Meat Wagon on a personal loan, a lot of skill, and an unshakeable belief that Kingston deserved a real neighborhood butcher. He wasn't wrong — you've shown up every week since. Now there's a chance to make it permanent: a community co-investment in something we've all already helped build." -a wonderful customer and friend
As many of you know, our lease is up in November of this year leaving Thanksgiving up in the air for us. Our building is going up for sale and we might have to leave Kingston. The dream would be to buy the building but commercial leases require a 20% down payment plus hefty closing costs. We are hoping for a permanent home, a reconfigured layout that finally makes sense, the ability to serve lunch, and a path to USDA processing for local farms.
Sunday, June 14, at Hasbrouck Park from 12pm-6pm we will be having a field day fundraiser! Think 5th grade field day with three legged races and potato sack races. Sliding scale tickets will be available soon! If you can't make Field Day, please consider donating here.
While we consider ourselves lucky to have survived in our current location, life and the world have gotten real weird. We are committed to providing customers with high quality, local goods that align with our beliefs: sustainability, transparency, and community. We are proud to give our staff a living wage and do our best to keep prices down for our customers and will always strive to work with folks who cannot afford them.
We are asking for help y’all. We really love the community we have made here and want to stay!
We know times are tough for everyone, but still hope that those who can, will contribute. For those who can't, please share this far and wide. Your voice helps even if your wallet can't.
Love,
Stefano & The Meat Wagon
