Help the Mead Family Through Jeff's Battle with Cancer

Hello, my name is Phoeba, and I’m the sister to Jennifer Mead and her husband, Jeff Mead. Some of you know, but if you don’t, my brother-in-law Jeff was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer in May 2023. He battled that from May to October 2023, did 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, and then in October had surgery to remove part of his esophagus and replace it with his stomach. He was told on October 16, 2023, he was cancer-free.

In December of 2023, he started having pain in his tailbone region. After X-rays, chiropractic care, and an injection, the pain was still there. Finally, a CT scan was performed on 01/23/2024. That scan determined a tumor in his tailbone region. After a biopsy, it was determined the adenocarcinoma on his esophagus had spread to his tailbone. They told him he was terminal and that they could do strong chemo to help extend life. My sister took him to Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion. They advised there was nothing they could do, but they advised he start immunotherapy. So they began those treatments along with the chemo that he received every two weeks. After 14 treatments, he was admitted to the hospital with swelling of the abdomen. They drained 4 liters of fluid and then did a CT scan that determined the cancer has spread and his liver is now failing. Per doctor advice, treatment has been stopped, and my brother-in-law is now in hospice care and in the end-of-life stage.

They have 3 daughters, 13, 14, and 17. They have a home and bills, and my brother-in-law was the breadwinner. This is all so much to take in, and I just want to try and do my best to help them manage life and everything in between. The money will be used to cover any over due medical expenses for Jeff, food for the home, mortgage payments, car payment, etc..
