On August 16, 2025, 25-year-old Gavin McPherson, a Whiteville High School graduate and North Carolina State University alumnus, suffered a tragic fall that shattered his T-12 vertebra, leaving him paraplegic at this time. He underwent emergency spinal fusion surgery (T10-L3) and will soon begin intensive rehab at Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Gavin is a devoted husband to Alexis and loving dad to their 10-month-old son, Maverick. As the sole financial provider for his young family, this sudden accident has left them facing overwhelming medical bills and living expenses as Gavin fights to recover.
