On November 23, Laura, Bryan, and Henry went out with friends to celebrate Henry's 10th birthday. While they were out, they received a phone call from Suffolk County Police notifying them that their garage caught on fire, engulfed half of their yard, and that the garage and all of its contents along with everything just outside of the garage was destroyed.

As the family approached their house, they saw flashing lights and found that the road was blocked off. After they told the officers that they were the homeowners, they drove up to find 4 fire trucks and dozens of police officers and firefighters working to save the house.

The East Northport Fire Department saved the house, but the damage is extensive. The house and yard will need repairs, the fence is gone, and the garage will have to be rebuilt. In addition to the structural damage, supplies and equipment were lost, including Henry’s sports equipment, the grill, patio furniture, smoker, all of the family’s sports and outdoor recreation supplies (beach chairs, sports chairs, kayak paddles, lawn games, bicycles, helmets, baseball gloves, ice skates, roller skates, power tools, luggage rack, chest freezer, refrigerator, holiday decorations, gardening tools, air conditioners, wood shop materials, the list goes on and on). If you know the McMullins, you know they use all of these things regularly. They love being outside, cooking up food in the smoker or grill, and playing sports together or hanging on the beach.

The amount of insurance coverage does not include everything that the McMullins need to rebuild from this horrible event. The cost to replace the contents of the garage and the patio/backyard is $15,000, so we are setting a goal to raise that amount to lessen the burden on the McMullin family during this traumatic time.

Any amount is appreciated, especially to help Bryan and Laura replace all of Henry’s beloved sports equipment. Henry is a dedicated athlete, and he comes home every day to play soccer or baseball in the backyard or ride his bike up and down the block.
