MCHS TSA students need your generosity and support.
On April 26, 2025, for the second year in a row, the MCHS Fashion Design and Technology team was awarded 1st Place at the PA-TSA State Conference earning them a transfer to the National TSA Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on June 27 - July 1, 2025! This is a huge achievement, and these students need their communities support to help send them to this prestigious event.
Team members are: Emily Banks, Reina Cirota, Ben Snyder and Oak Yeater.
The Fashion Design & Technology event criteria requires student teams to:
- Create an original, student created, professionally fabricated apparel piece which accurately showcases the yearly stylistic theme. 2025 - Marching Band Uniform - Earth, Wind, Fire, Water.
- Create a research portfolio which demonstrates understanding of materials, processes, terminology, and industry specific design techniques.
- Participate in a judges interview and garment showcase.
The Journey: Starting in October ’24, returning members Banks, Cirota and Yeater and new teammate Snyder selected the Fashion Design & Technology event and began working their way through the competition requirements…knowing their first stop was the Regional Event held at Cambria Heights High School on February 1, 2025. At this qualifying event, the students submitted their research portfolio for evaluation and participated in a private judge’s interview and garment showcase. At the conclusion of the event, the team qualified for the state conference with a 1st place result. From this point on, the team started planning a strategy for future progression and design modification. From April 23 to April 26, the team attended the PA-TSA State Conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. At this nationals qualifying event, students initially submitted their research portfolio and garments for evaluation. Upon the conclusion of the primary evaluation round, the team was 1 of 12 invited to participate in the live runway show and public judges interview sessions! These students rocked it with intelligence, grace and charm. In front of judges and a large crowd they described their design process, their fabrication techniques, the connection of the garment to the theme, and more! All while music played in the background and the model showcased the elegance of the garment, its enhancements and overall quality. At the conclusion of this event, the team placed 1st earning them a transfer position to the National TSA Conference in Nashville, Tennessee!
