The McGrath family could use our love and support now more than ever.
Shaun has been suffering from massive, debilitating headaches for quite some time. After countless appointments and tests, doctors discovered he has Chiari malformation—a serious condition where brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. To correct it, Shaun underwent brain surgery on Monday, November 24th.
He spent a day in the ICU, the next three days in the hospital and was just released Thanksgiving Day. Although Shaun is home, he still has a long road of recovering and will be unable to work for 8–12 weeks, possibly longer, as he heals. Unfortunately, he does not qualify for short-term disability, long-term disability, or FMLA, meaning he will be without income during his entire recovery. He had hoped to return on light duty or find another job, but due to strict medical weight restrictions—he cannot lift more than a gallon of milk—this is not possible.
Shaun’s wife, Jessica, is working full-time while also taking care of their three children and doing everything she can to support Shaun through this difficult time. She applied for assistance through her critical illness insurance but was unexpectedly denied. Once Shaun is able to manage more independently, Jessica plans to look for a second job to help stabilize their finances.
Despite their best efforts, the sudden loss of Shaun’s income means the family will soon be struggling to cover rent, utilities, groceries, and gas—the essential basics needed to get through each day.
Please consider helping Shaun and Jessica as they navigate this overwhelming and emotional journey. Any amount—big or small—truly makes a difference. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
The McGrath family is deeply grateful for every prayer, donation, share, and act of kindness.
Thank you for supporting them during this incredibly tough time.
