In the midst of celebrating six weeks of cherishing their precious newborn (our newest nephew Austin) time suddenly stood still for the McGinnis family of four. Early in the morning, while Matthew was at work, he was struck by a vehicle. The heartbreaking images of lawnmower vs. vehicle left us in shock, but the Lord was watching over him that day. After being airlifted to a hospital hours away, Nikki and Tyler rushed to his side, anxiously awaiting any word, continuously praying. Matthew was alive, although severely injured, facing months of recovery. His dad, Dan, quickly arrived from Michigan that evening. He learned to be a pro fast about getting a newborn to sleep again .

Nikki, still healing from childbirth and on maternity leave herself, now found herself responsible for the care of three boys (big and small). We are truly blessed that family and friends quickly rallied around them, offering support in any way (however small it seemed) possible.

As the days and weeks have passed, daily responsibilities and mounting bills have only added to their burden as Matthew faces a long and challenging road to recovery. He can no longer hold and care for those he loves most. I know he’s itching to get back to his garage, work on projects, drive a vehicle and make his lawn perfect again (to list a few things).

The McGinnis family is not one to ask for help, but as they continue to heal both physically and emotionally, I’ve decided to post this as an opportunity for anyone who feels called to support them during this unimaginable time. Whether through prayer, financial assistance, or simply a kind word, your support would mean the world to them as they continue to heal.
