Help the McGinnis family during a critical time.

Hi, my name is Kim and along with Candy McGinnis, we are fund raising to help my sister's (her SIL) family. Laurie has been the primary caregiver for her granddaughter, Emma, sincr she was born 6 years ago. Emma was born with spinal bifida. She has had a trach and been in and off a ventilator since birth. She is paralyzed from the chest down. She requires 24° nursing care if my sister is not there. Nurses have been hard to come by, which makes it difficult for Laurie to work. But she does, she works tirelessly at home for this little girl and then works her job when she is able to.

At the end of February, her husband, Virgil suffered a stroke and has been unable to work. A couple weeks later, March 26th, Emma developed double pneumonia and was hospitalized. There have been a few days that we haven't been sure she would make it. Laurie has not left her side for so much as a minute in three weeks.

Friends and family have helped Virgil with rides and groceries, but he has not been cleared to drive or work.

As you can imagine, the financial burden with neither able to go to work is great. Our sister/sister in law is the kindest, tireless, most dedicated and compassionate person I know. She has freely given up her social life, her self care, and everything else most of us take for granted to care for this child.
