My name is Sarah and my dear friends Louisa and Damon McCarthy lost their home in Altadena due to the Eaton fire on the night of January 7, 2025. They both lived in this house for over 20 years and have built countless memories together. They have a 4 year old son and this is the only home he’s ever known.
Louisa and her son left to her mom’s house in Riverside around 9pm on Jan 7, 2025 because they realized all the roads were getting bombarded with emergency vehicles and as difficult as it was to leave her home, she knew she had to make the right decision for their son. That’s when Damon made the decision to stay back and try to save their home until he was forced to evacuate at 4am because embers were flying into their backyard due to the strong winds and fire rapidly spreading. He took whatever valuables he could and brought it to his studio thinking it would be safe there; which was also located in Altadena. He stayed there for shelter hoping the fires would die down but it never did. He eventually left when he could no longer breathe. That studio ended up in ashes as well.
I know so many people have been affected by this horrific fire and I pray that everyone is safe. Please help donate anything you can to this loving family that have been long time Altadena residents. Your generosity will help them move forward from this devastating loss. It is so heartbreaking they have to restart their lives due to this indescribable tragedy. Thank you for taking your time to read this and to help contribute in any way possible.
