Help the McCarthy family get to LA

Second Battalion, Seventh Marines has just lost a brother. Michael McCarthy was a Corpsman with 2/7 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2008. Tragically we lost him on August 12, 2021. For anyone that knew Mike you'll know that he was an awesome guy. He was fun loving, witty and always full of life. He deployed to Afghanistan with 2/7 in 2008 and was a stellar Corpsman while in country. He cared deeply about his Marines and the Afghan people that he fought for. Everyone in 2/7 is heartbroken and the fact that his death occurred in the middle of the situation in Afghanistan makes it particularly difficult.

We are starting this GoFundMe page so that we can raise money for his family to fly out to Los Angeles to close out his apartment and then spread his ashes. The money will be used for flights, a hotel while they are here, a rental car and food. We set the goal at $6500 since we are trying to raise money for four people to fly out and stay for a few days. No donation is too big or too small. The family appreciates all of the help that you can provide.
