Help the Martini's with medical expenses
Donation protected
In late July, the Martini family were together once again when one of her daughters flew home from Arizona. They celebrated with a fantastic pool party. Everything was normal as it should be within a family.
A week later wife, mother and grandmother Helen developed an illness with multiple bouts of disorientation, weakness and diarrhea which led to several major falls. Her second day of falling resulted in her inability to rise from the floor. The family called 911 and she was transported to a local hospital. There, she was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection and pneumonia. It was serious. Her oxygen level continued to plummet and a respirator was considered on several occasions. Fluid was removed from her lungs weekly and after nearly four weeks she was barely strong enough to be moved to a rehabilitation center. There she made very little progress and developed a UTI and one morning became extremely ill. 911 was called again. She was rushed to yet another hospital where she was admitted with a high fever and immediately diagnosed with a deadly blood staph infection. While treating the infection concern grew that it might manifest in other parts of her body and it did just that: it infected her pacemaker. That pacemaker needed to be removed and her very survival from that surgery was in doubt. Miraculously she did survive and was soon well enough to be discharged to another rehab center. Unfortunately, there were no beds available to give her the type of care she needed.
So, in less than twenty-four hours the Martini living room was transformed into a hospital room. Helen was transported by ambulance home. The adjustment has been difficult for the whole family. Helen continues to improve very slowly. She remains bedridden and unable to walk leaving family members to care for her in all ways including cooking, feeding, toileting, bathing and grooming.
Although insurance has helped, so many bills are left unpaid and weekly expenses for medical supplies add up quickly. This Christian family is in need of financial help. Any amount would help in a big way. It would take a lot of stress off their hearts. And allow more time to focus on Helen who is trying to just be normal again.
