UPDATE FROM THE MARTINEZ FAMILY:

To Our Beloved Friends and Family,

It’s been a whirlwind week and a half since we lost our home. Evacuating in darkness, Mia and I escaped to my parents’ house. Rich followed later after trying valiantly to save our home. Seeing the remains the next day was horrifying but gave closure.
With your generous help, we have secured a rental home for a year and purchased some necessities. We are immensely grateful to everyone near and far who has reached out and blessed us with your texts, advice, and love. Thank you for all you have done for us and we ask for your continued prayers.

With gratitude, Rich, Sandy, Cam, and Mia

On January 7, 2025, the Eaton Canyon fire tore through Altadena, completely destroying the Martinez family’s home and all of their belongings. That night, they evacuated to safety at Mia’s grandparents’ house, leaving behind their memories and possessions. While they are grateful to be safe, the emotional and financial toll of losing everything has been devastating.

The Martinez family is now trying to pick up the pieces while navigating the challenges of returning to school and work. Mia, a high school senior, and Cameron, a college sophomore, have both had their lives turned upside down, making an already busy time even harder.

We are asking for your support to help the Martinez family through this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward essentials like clothing, school supplies, and other immediate necessities as they begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.

We are setting up this GoFundMe on their behalf. We would love to help them get through the coming weeks without the added financial burdens and worries.

Any amount you can give will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign will help spread the word and show the Martinez family that they are not alone.

This campaign was created by Karen Shin and Bella Kao, close friends of Mia Martinez, to support her family as they work toward recovery. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
