Help the Marra Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Hello, my name is Sharon Condon-Weinberger. I’m reaching out on behalf of my godson, Drew Marra, and his family, who have recently endured the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. Drew graduated from Fairport in 1993, and his wife, Kim Marra-Spink, graduated from Wayne Central. They moved to Asheville, North Carolina, in 2012 and have made it their home ever since.
Drew has been an elementary physical education teacher for 21 years and is dedicated to his students and community. He, his wife Kim, their two daughters, Emily (17) and Allison (15), and their beloved dog Lexi all faced the storm together. They woke up to hurricane-force winds and torrential rain that seemed to last forever. When the storm finally passed, they hoped the worst was over, but then the floodwaters began to rise.
Their home was severely damaged, and 37 homes in their neighborhood were lost. The entire first floor of their house—kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom, and both bathrooms—was destroyed. Many personal belongings, clothes, shoes, and cherished memories were lost. While they were able to save some precious items, the emotional toll on the family has been immense, especially for their daughters.
Now, they are living on the second floor of their home, without a kitchen or proper living space. Drew and Kim are doing everything they can to rebuild, but it’s a long and challenging process. Any support—whether financial help, sharing this story, or keeping them in your thoughts—will make a world of difference.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support as the Marra family navigates this difficult time. Every little bit helps as they work toward rebuilding their home and their lives.
