My sister and her family have suffered a devastating house fire and have lost everything. It’s truly heartbreaking. What the flames didn’t destroy, smoke and water did. Losing a home is not just about the physical space, but the memories and sense of security that come with it.
One of the hardest things to see was what remained of their photo albums. Baby pictures, wedding memories, and years of their children growing up were all melted and burned. These are things that can never be replaced.
While many items are gone forever, there are still ways we can come together to help them begin again. So many have already reached out asking how they can support, and we are incredibly grateful. This will be a long, emotional, and financial journey. If you’re able, please consider helping my sister and her family with anything you can, so they can begin to rebuild their lives and restore some sense of normalcy.
This is my sister Kristi's words:
We lost our home. A fire took everything in less than 30 minutes. We are devastated, but we are safe, and so is our beloved dog, Luna. We are so incredibly grateful to be safe and for the support that has already surrounded us.
As it’s sinking in, we’re realizing just how much is gone, not just the house, but our entire life inside it, including photos, our kids’ keepsakes, and all the things that made our house feel like home.
We also lost all the everyday essentials, clothes, beds, furniture, appliances, kitchen items, everything. Starting completely over feels overwhelming, but we are so grateful for the love, kindness, and support we have already received.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already supported us with prayers, kind words, Venmo contributions, and offers of help. We truly could not have made it through this past week without you. There aren’t enough words to thank you. Your kindness is carrying us right now.
