Hello you beautiful people!
Parker here. I hope everybody is holding up OK and staying safe during these unprecedented times. As many of you know, once we are free to go back to our day to day lives, the city of San Francisco, and many of our favorite bars and venues, wont be the same, if they are even there at all.
That's why the Make Out Room and the Latin American Club need your help. And why I am begging you to donate anything you can.
As you all know due to the Covid-19 outbreak we have shut our doors for the time being. Until the powers that be deem it safe for folks to go out and be around other humans we will remain closed. With all of this comes the financial burden that all of our bartenders, bar backs, door people etc. are now facing. With no work means no tips, no paychecks, and no way to pay rent and survive.
So we are reaching out to all of you to ask for a little help. If you’ve spent time at the Make Out Room or Latin American club you know that we are a big family and that means you’re part of it too! Hello Writers with Drinks! Hello Litquake! Hello Jonathan Richman! Hello way too big maragaritas! Hello GIBBSMO Holiday Craptacular! Hello that drunken couple making out at the bar!
If you’ve ever come to a show, a literary event, had a drink bought for you, had a laugh, a margarita, anything at all that would make you feel so inclined to toss a few bucks our way it would be beyond appreciated.
I love these people dearly. My wife Amy manages both places. Marty helped put the Mission as we know it on the map. Many of our employees are working musicians, so they are feeling the pinch twice as hard.
Even before "Social Distancing" became a term (and drinks on me the minute its no longer part of our vocabulary), these beloved San Francisco institutions have been struggling. Rent increases, upgrade costs, floods, you name it, they have dealt with it, and they have kept their doors open so we can keep what little bit of San Francisco that we still have left, there for us. Did I mention the Make Out Room just got Legacy status? It did. Does it mean the city is gonna throw them any money? It does not.
We really need your help.
The funds collected will go towards the next two months in rent, sales tax payments, employees hourly wages and lost tips, paying distributors, and maintenance.
Anything would help. Let's save these beloved institutions.
