Help the Luft Family Honor Baby Piper
Spende geschützt
My brother, Silas Luft, and his wife, Emma Luft were expecting twin girls, due June 25th, 2025. Unfortunately, tragedy struck, and they are in desperate need of help giving their sweet Piper a proper memorial/funeral.
This is a written account, by Silas, of the events that took place May 14th to May 15th.
On May 14th, Emma, started having some contractions so we went to the hospital to be checked. Late on the night of the 14th they found a heartbeat and it dropped from 100 to 70 and decided to do an emergency cesarean. Just after midnight, upon opening Emma's womb they pulled Piper out (baby A) and continued on to Raegan (baby B).
Piper at 5lbs 4oz did not have a heartbeat. Piper's placenta had disconnected from the uterine wall and began bleeding into the uterus which is what caused the early labor. They attempted resuscitation for 16 minutes but unfortunately she did not make it.
Raegan at 3lbs 15oz survived and is thriving with the help of a CPAP. She is taking nutrition perfectly and we are working toward her being able to breast feed. Once off CPAP her being able to eat on her own is the only other thing keeping her.
Emma lost a lot of blood which caused us to have to be admitted to the ICU where she had 5 blood transfusions as well as a multitude of blood products to help her body begin clotting. After 25hrs in the ICU we finally made it into an antepartum room which gave us more space and more comfortable amenities.
We have been able to see Piper she is beautiful and are grateful we were able to say goodbye. She may not be with us physically but our love for her abounds. We are heartbroken that we do not get to bring both girls home.
Your continued prayers and thoughts are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
Thank you! I love you all!
