Hi, my name is Tim, and I’m raising funds for my soul mate, Kathy — the love of my life and the strongest person I’ve ever known.

Kathy and I have been together for 32 years. We’ve faced a lot in that time, but no matter what life has thrown our way, we’ve always faced it together. Kathy was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) — a rare brittle bone disease that makes even a small fall dangerous. The slogan for OI is “Unbreakable Spirit,” and I can tell you firsthand — that’s Kathy. She’s lived her entire life proving just how strong a person’s spirit can be.

Doctors once told her parents she might not live past the age of twelve. But Kathy’s will to live, her sense of humor, and her love for people have carried her so much further than anyone imagined. She’s now 56, still smiling, still giving, still fighting — but now she’s facing the hardest battle yet.

Kathy has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She’ll soon undergo a double mastectomy, followed by several rounds of chemotherapy. Chemo is hard on anyone, but for Kathy, it’s especially dangerous. Her bones are so fragile that even simple daily tasks can lead to injury. During this time, she’ll need help with almost everything — getting dressed, moving around, even getting on and off the couch safely.

I’m self-employed, and while I’ve always done my best to provide, I’ll need to step away from work for quite a while to take care of her. I wouldn’t want it any other way — she’s cared for so many people her whole life; now it’s my turn to make sure she’s safe and supported. But that also means we’ll have very little income coming in, and our savings can only stretch so far.

Kathy has spent her life giving to others — caring for family, friends, and even strangers who needed a helping hand. She’s one of those rare souls who makes everyone feel loved and seen. And now, she’s the one who needs help.
