Hello all,
This is something I NEVER dreamed of needing to do, but we have fallen on hard times and need some assistance to get back on our feet. We have had a string of bad luck and just can’t seem to recover on our own. Earlier this year Brian was laid off unexpectedly, and soon after, our primary vehicle broke down needing a $1500 repair. Within a week of getting it back it developed an engine knock which put it back in the shop….diagnosis: complete engine failure!! We actually purchased a warranty with the car to protect us in the event something like this happened, but as they tend to do, they looked for any reason not to payout on both claims for repair, and refused to do so because we were missing receipt for ONE oil change from Nov 2021. At this point we were upside down on the car as it needed an additional $9,000 to replace the engine, which we would have to now pay out of pocket. Without the funds to do so, we were forced to trade in the broken down Veloster in addition to our Volvo to get out from under our upside down car loan and a little bit of a down payment towards a sedan we can rely on. So we thankfully are still mobile and able to get ourselves to work, however we now need funds for the tags, title, and registration on our new (to us) vehicle before the temporary tags expire next week. After 100+ applications Brian has finally found full time employment again, but literally the same day he finished his training (this past Sunday) he spiked a 100 degree temp and has tested positive for COVID. Despite my best efforts to avoid contact, it was too late, and the following day, I spiked a 101 degree temp and you guessed it, have tested positive for COVID as well. This unfortunate setback will keep us both away from work for at least 5 days assuming we test negative afterwards. We have managed to just barely keep our heads above water through everything life has dealt lately, But, it’s come to a point to admit that we will need some help to afford the sales tax/tags on our vehicle and our rent payment for the month due next week. Although we are both gainfully employed, unfortunately, neither of our jobs give us PTO or paid sick days. So COVID getting us both the last week of the month with rent due on the 1st could not have come at a more inconvenient time. We have exhausted all other options which has embarrassingly brought us to the point of needing a fundraiser to assist. If we can just keep our vehicle legal and avoid eviction from our apartment we will be back to work in about a week and should be able to catch up and recover, but in the meantime we are in desperate need of your help. Any amount you are able spare to help us get back on our feet and would be so very appreciated! I know that so many families are struggling and have fallen on tough times lately. In turn I vow to pay it forward in any way I can! Thank you in advance, friends, family, and neighbors. We love and appreciate you all so very much.
