Help the London-Smith Family Navigate Recovery
Donation protected
We are fundraising to help a special family during a challenging time. In mid November, Elise had a bad fall while walking the dogs and was hospitalized with a severe concussion and a minor sub-dural hematoma. After returning home and seemingly steady progress with recovery, she collapsed after experiencing a thunder-clap headache and was rushed to the hospital where a CT scan revealed that her bleed, thought to have been stabilized, had worsened considerably and, compounded with the swelling from her original trauma, was causing tremendous cranial pressure. She had a craniotomy to relieve the pressure and was intubated to allow time for her body to heal. Elise has since moved into a rehab facility, but the road to recovery will be long and difficult. She will need to remaster skills lost as a result of her injuries, including walking, and undergo additional surgery to restore her skull once the swelling in her brain subsides.
The Londson-Smith Family are a tight knit family of three. Mike and Phoebe continue to be beside Elise every step of the way. The suddenness and magnitude of this event presents enormous challenge for the family in both, emotional and practical ways. Elise is self employed and currently the primary source of income for the family. Fortuitously, Mike is in between jobs, which has afforded him the time to focus Elise, support Phoebe, who just started their freshman year of high school, take care of the dogs, and keep the household running. However, alongside this stress, are the unknowns regarding mounting medical costs and the widening shortfall with living expenses.
Please consider supporting this family during this extremely challenging time and spread the word about this campaign. Funds will go towards medical bills and living expenses given the extensive time off that will be required.
Thank you!
