Help the Loftings Through Shiloh's Treatment
Donation protected
We are asking for help for a family that is very dear to us, our friends Jeff and Jordan Lofting and their two beautiful daughters, Darcy and Shiloh.
The Loftings are a wonderful family that have touched many lives with their smiles, kindness, and compassion. Sweet Shiloh is a bright-eyed, spunky two-year-old full of life, love, and energy. If you know the Loftings at all, it is no surprise that Shiloh has a bit of sass in her!
The Loftings live in Okinawa, Japan, as Jeff works for the US DoD. Recently, Shiloh suddenly stopped drinking, started walking wobbly, became lethargic, and threw up multiple times. The Loftings spent many hours over the following days in the ER at the US Naval Hospital, searching for answers. On July 8th, sweet Shiloh was diagnosed with obstructive hydrocephalus caused by a brain tumor.
Immediately, Shiloh was transferred to a Japanese hospital where doctors and surgeons decided her best treatment was an ETV surgery to relieve the built up fluid in her brain and to stabilize her condition in order to transfer her to a US hospital for the tumor resection. The initial surgery went very well and, after two weeks in the Japanese hospital, Shiloh and Jordan were flown by Medevac to Kansas City. Two days after arrival, Shiloh underwent brain tumor resection surgery. The Loftings were prepped that this would most likely be a 10-hour surgery but were so thankful to God when Shiloh was returned to the room in less than half the time! In every facet of this experience, the Loftings have seen God’s faithfulness and mercy at work.
As of early September, Shiloh is recovering well from her initial surgery and has regained some of her old spark. She is eating, playing, laughing, crying, loving and living...the way two-year-old should. Unfortunately, although her current recovery is going well, this is not the final treatment for Shiloh. You see, the biopsy report after the surgery revealed Shiloh’s tumor to be an anaplastic ependymoma (grade 3), which is the most advanced level of brain tumor for this kind. This type of cancer is considered aggressive, with a high chance of returning within two years without further treatments and therapy. Further treatments MUST happen, medical equipment MUST be purchased, significant and exhausting travel is guaranteed.
Although this next stage for Shiloh feels as overwhelming as the initial diagnosis, the Loftings are standing firmly on the promise found in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Jeff and Jordan are amazing parents with a lovely family around them while they are in the US. But financially, they can’t do this alone. There have already been many travel and medical expenses they’ve incurred over the past several weeks and many more expected expenses ahead. The cost of the ongoing treatments and the expenses involved to travel to the clinics is staggering.
We humbly ask for your support for sweet Shiloh and the Loftings. Although their close circle of family and friends has given so much, they could truly use the support of the world right now.
Your donations can help relieve the overwhelming financial burden. Every single dollar will be used to create a happy, healthy environment for Shiloh to fight and heal…and provide the Loftings with the emotional and financial support they need during the most difficult time.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness for sweet Shiloh. We know that, together, we can make their lives better.
