My younger brother was just diagnosed with Epithelial Sarcoma. This is a rare form of tissue cancer. In order to treat this form of cancer he will need radiation 5 times a week for 5 weeks to shrink the tumor that has already broken his ribs, before they can remove it. He will receive radiation as a follow up to surgery as well. Then he has options, he has not yet decided on a course of treatment at this time but I will keep you updated. His options are ;
1. Chemotherapy (not very effective for this type of cancer)
2. Vitamin C injections (clinical trial 3 days a week).
3. T-VEC (clinical trial 1 day a week)
He is already out of work and struggling to keep up with bills. Any funds donated will go to his medical care and household expenses. Every little bit helps, no amount is too small. Whether you are able to donate or not please say a prayer for his family and share his story, It means more than you know.
If you would prefer to donate something other than money, such as; items to help him stay comfortable, toys for the kids, appliances to help his wife take care of the family in these challenging times or anything else, everything is appreciated.
This is a very new situation for all of the people in his life and if anyone knows of any other resources to help his family, that information will also be greatly appreciated.
I asked him to share his story and this is what he said. "I am a 29 year old man who has always relied on myself and my work ethic to survive. I hate asking for help because up until this point I have always been able to take care of my self and my family. I've worked since i was 12 de-tasseling in the summers, got a real job at 16, and have worked since then, some time as much as 80 hours a week when money was tight. I worked as long as I could with stage 3 cancer (Epithelial sarcoma in my right chest), until my ribs broke and I couldn't stand for more than a half hour at a time. I need help, and I am asking for it with the most sincere regret imaginable, it is not your burden nor is it your fault, and yet here I stand with palm outstretched. I need help supporting myself, my wife, and my two boys. I hope that you can find it in your heart to give a broken man some peace of mind in knowing that my family will not suffer from financial burdens I have no choice but to place on them. Thank you with every ounce of my being, and even if you do not donate, thank you for reading my and please share it with your friends. thank you again for your time."
I asked his wife to share her feelings as well and this is what she said. "I feel scared for our future. Its really overwhelming and hard to wrap my head around the fact that this is happening to us especially still being in our 20's. I'm scared of what this will do to our boys. He is my best friend. I knew this would be hard, I can't imagine how hard this is going to be the farther we go."
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Here are some pictures , I will be adding more information and pictures as we go. Thank you for your support, it means so much!
