Sophie “The Loaf” is my heart horse, and right now she’s fighting for her life in the hospital for a likely large colon displacement and is potentially a surgical case again. Surgery is risky for her due to her age and prior history, but it may be the only way to save her. The timing couldn’t be worse—just as I was preparing for Christmas, a huge week of work was cancelled, leaving me struggling to cover her emergency care. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own, but this situation is more than I can manage alone.

Sophie means the world to me. She’s been my companion, my comfort, and my joy through so many ups and downs. Seeing her in pain and not being able to help her on my own is heartbreaking. The veterinary bills are adding up quickly, especially with the possibility of surgery, and I want to do everything possible to give her the best chance at recovery.
