Those of us who know the Lees have seen their long term devotion to our community through their friendship and solidarity, including their involvement in many projects to care for and feed our Tallahassee neighbors. “Hello, my name is Robert and last September I got a call from the state of Pennsylvania letting me know that my cousin's daughter Rachael was in state custody, living at a group home. My cousin, Rachael's mom, passed away in 2024 and after some time living with her grandmother she was eventually given up to the custody of the state.

Pennsylvania Children and Youth Services, asked my wife and I if we would be willing to take Rachael in and become foster parents, and we both agreed, and began the adventure of becoming licensed foster parents. Rachael being in a different state complicated issues, and made the process take longer but after being approved and licensed with Florida Department of Children and Families we were notified by the state of Pennsylvania that they have accepted us as a placement for Rachel.

This began the next part of our journey. We need to do two visits with Rachael in Lancaster, PA before she gets transferred down to Florida, which adds a lot of unexpected expenses. We could use support to raise funds. These would help us with travel expenses up to Pennsylvania, moving Rachael into our home, and getting her all the things she will need (furniture, clothes, toys, etc.).

Rachael has an intellectual disability so she will require more care than our other two kids, and she will need specialized therapy and other resources to help her thrive. Every donation will help us along as we help Rachael with her transition down to Florida.”
