Help for Eugene, Laurel, Oliver, and Maggie
Donation protected

On Wednesday, January 8, Eugene, Laurel, their 4-year-old son Oliver, and their beloved cat Maggie lost everything to the devastating Eaton Canyon wildfire. Their beautiful 1920s English Bohemian cottage in Altadena, which they poured so much love and care into over the last 7.5 years, was completely destroyed. The home, about to celebrate its 100th anniversary, was not just a house—it was a sanctuary, a place of memories, joy, and creativity. It was where Eugene and Laurel made a life together, where they raised baby Oliver, and where they hosted family and friends with love and hospitality.
Their home was filled with cherished items—each room curated with care, even earning its own Instagram following (@thequaintcottage), as a testament to their creativity and passion. It was a home where Oliver took his first steps and where every corner told a story. Unfortunately, the only memories Oliver will have of the place he grew up are the ones captured in photos, thanks to Eugene's incredible photography.
In the fire, they of course lost all of their physical belongings too —Oliver's baby clothes, toys, blankies, and all of the sentimental things that made their house a home. Laurel lost her treasured wardrobe, carefully curated through travels to New York and Paris. Eugene lost his camera, which was not only his passion but his livelihood. It was the lens through which he captured the world and provided for his family. They also lost a car, vintage collections, priceless gifts, Laurel’s wedding dress, and Eugene’s childhood photos—memories that are irreplaceable.
They are facing an unimaginable loss, and we are asking for your help to support them during this incredibly difficult time.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. We also ask for your prayers and positive energy as they navigate this difficult journey. Eugene, Laurel, Oliver, and Maggie have always been a warm, welcoming, and loving part of their community, and now they need the community's support in return.
