Help the Lee Family Lay Kun to Rest

On Thursday, January 27th, Thanh Lee had to rush her husband to the emergency room. Thanh, Kun and their four-year-old son Gohan had all recently tested positive for COVID-19; though Thanh and Gohan had effectively recovered, Kun had unfortunately (despite being fully vaccinated) developed pneumonia as a result of the virus, which was making it difficult for him to breathe. After several hours of testing at the ER, they sent Thanh and Kun home because they did not consider his case dire enough to merit inpatient hospital care.

 

Less than 48 hours later, Kun’s oxygen levels were continuing to drop; it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to breathe, so Thanh brought him back to the emergency room. After his heart temporarily stopped in the ER, Kun was eventually moved into the Intensive Care Unit. A mere few hours later, in the early morning of January 30th, Thanh was told that he had passed away. It was only then that they allowed her in the room to see him (based on current COVID protocols). Kun was only 31 years old when he took his last breath.

 

Words cannot express the heartbreak and devastation Kun’s sudden and tragic passing has caused Thahn, their son Gohan, and their family. Despite their whole household being both cautious and vaccinated, they within minutes became another casualty of this merciless pandemic that has caused our world so much senseless grief.

 

Please consider donating to help Thanh with all the financial burdens that she will now be faced with, including the meaningful memorial service Kun deserves, the medical expenses acquired during Kun’s final days alive, and the responsibility of now being the sole provider for their son. We realize this pandemic has hurt so many people in a multitude of financial and emotional ways, but even the smallest contribution will mean the world to this resilient mother and son who now have lost their husband and father.

About the Organizers: We (Vanessa and Lila) are Thanh’s friends and colleagues. We are absolutely heartbroken for Thanh, Gohan, and the rest of their family, and want to do everything we can to alleviate as much stress as possible for Thanh during this painful time. Though we are managing this fundraising campaign on Thanh’s behalf, all proceeds will go directly to her as the beneficiary; all donations will be deposited straight to her bank account, and will be used towards the expenses listed above.
