Le's Family Road To Recovery From Illness
Donation protected
Hello,
My uncle and aunt have been hard-working individuals all their lives, overcoming hardships, providing, and supporting their family. Sadly, both are currently suffering from delicate health issues.
My uncle, Trung Le, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer two years ago and was bedridden. After a year and several months, he was able to gain a fraction of his energy back. Meanwhile, hospital bills rolled in and although disability benefits were applied for, many months passed before he got approved. Being very prideful, my aunt and uncle kept their financial burdens to themselves.
My aunt, Nikki Tran, has always been a strong woman and took on the role of being the sole provider for the family, maintaining all needs and those of her beloved husbands’. She worked 7 days a week, not accepting any days off to pay for all expenses. My aunt alone has upheld her home by working multiple shifts from working at restaurants, food catering, nail technician, and taking on miscellaneous side jobs.
Simultaneously, she had been dealing with her ongoing health issues. Recently her condition took a turn for the worse. For years my aunt had dealt with diabetes but recently suffered a stroke shortly after my cousin Travis Le, her son, had been activated and deployed with The United States Marine Corps Reserves. My cousin being gone makes this situation particularly more difficult because. Without their son, no one can steadily care for both my aunt and uncle as needed, resulting in tremendous struggles to pay bills.
After five weeks of being hospitalized and undergoing surgery, my aunt's entire left side has remained paralyzed that requires round-clock care for her to support, maintain, and accomplish basic human needs. On December 15, 2021, my aunt was discharged from the hospital. The doctors expect that it will be approximately 7 months to a year before she can experience any kind of normalcy that requires a home care physical therapist that offers house calls.
Sadly, bills do not wait for normalcy or exceptions as they are on a projected schedule.
With both pillars of the household unable to work and their son away for the next 6 months, we kindly ask for any support in donations, or even sharing/reposting this fundraiser. We simply want to help my uncle and aunt make it through these unpreceded times until she regains her movement or until her son returns, whichever comes first.
Thank you for your time, please know that we are extremely grateful for the time you took to read our story. Kindly share our story in support of our family. All funds will proceed to the Le/Tran family.
