Help the Lauers Get Re-Started

Hi, I'm Alex. I'm fundraising for my sister, Deanna Lauer, and her family, Greg Lauer, Eleanor (2), and Jude (10 months). While we've all had a tough go of it in the last two years, the Lauers have recently hit a particularly bad streak of luck.

On September 27, 2021 Greg and Deanna showed up to close on their new home and discovered they had been victims of wire fraud. Their entire 20% down payment had vanished. Hours later that same day, Jude had to be admitted to the hospital with a particularly nasty bout of RSV. After 5 sleepless nights in the hospital, Greg and Deanna were able to take him home. Thankfully (and most importantly), Jude is doing OK. He is on breathing treatments, but is back to his sweet, smiling self.

Unfortunately, even after contacting the proper authorities, they have virtually no hope of recovering their down payment. Their life savings, gone in the blink of an eye. While they are not currently without a place to stay, they are currently without a path forward.

The goal from this fundraiser is not to recover everything they've lost, but to help the Lauers get back on the track to building a future as a young family.
