Hello, my name is Baudelia Lastor Morales, and I am the oldest daughter of Tomas Pacajoj Lastor, also known by many as “the mechanic.”

On September 22, 2026, around 7:35 a.m., my father was detained by ICE while he was on his way to drop off my little brother to school. Since that moment, I have done everything in my power to locate him, make sure he was safe, and understand what the next steps would be.

After many phone calls and after my father was transferred to different facilities, I was finally able to find out where he was being held and confirm that he was safe. My father was informed that he has not been given a court date yet, and he is currently facing many difficulties while being detained. I was able to get in contact with an attorney, and we are now working through the process of getting my father the legal help he needs.

My family and I are doing everything we can to support my father during this difficult time. My father is a hardworking man, a loving husband, and a devoted father of nine children. He has always worked hard and done everything possible to provide for our family. He is also the type of person who always helps others whenever he can. Whether it is stopping to help someone with car trouble or offering support to someone in need, my father has always been willing to lend a hand.

Right now, my family is facing an extremely difficult situation. My father is the main provider for our household, and without him, it has become challenging to keep up with everyday expenses. Bills do not stop, and we are doing our best to keep our family stable during this unexpected hardship.

My family is also facing additional challenges because my mother has been dealing with health issues for a long time. Her condition requires frequent medical appointments, medication, and continued medical care, which have added more responsibilities and expenses for our family.

As the oldest daughter, I am trying my best to step up and support my family. I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree and had recently moved to Emporia, Kansas, to begin my first semester at Emporia State University in the spring. However, because of this situation, my plans have changed. I now have the responsibility of helping care for my youngest sibling, who is 9 years old, as well as supporting my siblings who are still in high school. Another one of my siblings has also decided to stay home to help take care of my mother.

Being the oldest daughter comes with a great responsibility, and I am doing everything I can to support my family and help my father through this process.

We are asking for help with:

Legal fees and an immigration attorney

Rent, utilities, and household bills

Medical appointments and medication expenses

Food and basic necessities

Any unexpected expenses that may come up during this process

El 22 de septiembre de 2026, alrededor de las 7:35 de la mañana, mi padre fue detenido por ICE mientras se dirigía a llevar a mi hermanito a la escuela. Desde ese momento, como hija mayor, he hecho todo lo que está a mi alcance para localizarlo, asegurarme de que estuviera bien y saber cuáles serían los siguientes pasos.

Después de muchas llamadas y de que mi padre fuera trasladado a diferentes centros de detención, finalmente pude averiguar dónde se encontraba y confirmar que estaba a salvo. A mi padre le informaron que todavía no se le ha asignado una fecha para su audiencia y actualmente está enfrentando muchas dificultades mientras permanece detenido. Pude comunicarme con un abogado y ahora estamos trabajando en el proceso para conseguirle a mi padre la ayuda legal que necesita.

Mi familia y yo estamos haciendo todo lo posible para apoyar a mi padre durante este momento tan difícil. Mi padre es un hombre trabajador, un esposo amoroso y un padre dedicado de nueve hijos. Siempre ha trabajado arduamente y ha hecho todo lo posible para asegurarse de que a nuestra familia no le falte lo necesario. Mi padre también es el tipo de persona que siempre ayuda a los demás cuando puede. Ya sea deteniéndose para ayudar a alguien que tiene problemas con su carro o brindando apoyo a una persona que lo necesita, mi padre siempre ha estado dispuesto a ayudar.

En este momento, mi familia está pasando por una situación extremadamente difícil. Mi padre es el principal proveedor de nuestro hogar y, sin él, se nos ha hecho muy difícil mantenernos al día con los gastos diarios. Las cuentas no se detienen y estamos haciendo todo lo posible para mantener a nuestra familia estable durante esta situación inesperada.

Además, mi familia enfrenta otros desafíos porque mi madre ha estado lidiando con problemas de salud desde hace mucho tiempo. Su situación requiere citas médicas frecuentes, medicamentos y atención médica continua, lo que también representa responsabilidades y gastos adicionales para nuestra familia.

Como hija mayor, estoy tratando de asumir la responsabilidad de apoyar a mi familia de todas las maneras que puedo. Yo estaba estudiando para obtener mi licenciatura y recientemente me había mudado a Emporia, Kansas, para comenzar mi primer semestre en Emporia State University en la primavera. Sin embargo, debido a esta situación, mis planes han cambiado. Ahora tengo la responsabilidad de ayudar a cuidar a mi hermanito menor, que tiene 9 años, además de apoyar a mis hermanos que todavía están en la escuela secundaria.
