On May 21, 2017, Lance Corporal Joseph Lange suffered a massive brain bleed.

He is currently hospitalized in the neuro intensive care in Fairfax, Virginia. His parents live in California, thousands of miles away and feel the need to visit their son on a monthly basis as he goes through his long recovery.
