Late last night, August 18th, into the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 19th, Nic & Sarah Lang's lives were turned upside down. Their home, garage, vehicles, and business were broken into, in a deeply violating robbery. What was taken wasn't just money, tools, and personal belongings — it was years of hard work, sacrifice, and the foundation of their livelihood. The thieves stole more than $150,000 worth of essential tools and more — equipment that was crucial to running their business and supporting their family.
Most terrifying of all, it is believed that the thieves were just feet away from their daughter, Zoey Bee, while the family slept.
The Langs moved to Albert Lea in 2019 with a dream: to revitalize a portion of South Washington Avenue. The Lang’s have invested everything into restoring three downtown buildings, creating their home, store space, apartments, and a community Makerspace.
Tragically, after a prior break-in, they lost their insurance coverage—leaving them with no protection from this devastating loss. Now, they face an uphill battle they never expected.
With their resources gone, their home violated, and their vision for the community shaken, the Langs need our help — whether through a donation, sharing this page, or sending support in any way you can. No donation is too small — every dollar will truly make a difference in helping them recover, rebuild, and continue their vision for the community.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Adding security and safety measures
• Covering immediate expenses
• Replacing stolen necessities and tools
• Helping them continue rebuilding their home and their dream for Washington Avenue
If you can’t give financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser or keeping the Lang family in your prayers.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Together, we can help the Langs rise from this hardship and continue building hope in Albert Lea.
