The Landis family is one of those rare families who truly show up for everyone around them. Whether it’s through their work, their friendships, or their dedication to their four amazing kids, they are the kind of people who make their community stronger just by being part of it. Now they are facing a battle no family should have to face alone.
On January 6, Brian was hospitalized with severe gastrointestinal issues and was diagnosed with proctitis. He was prescribed two strong antibiotics, but his doctors wanted to investigate further and recommended a colonoscopy.
During the colonoscopy on January 29, doctors discovered a large tumor. The biopsy results showed high-grade dysplasia, which is very concerning for cancer. Since then, the family has met with both a surgeon and an oncologist. Additional CT and MRI scans have raised even more concern, and doctors are highly suspicious of Stage 2 or Stage 3 colorectal cancer, possibly involving nearby lymph nodes.
At this point, the next critical step is surgery, which is scheduled for March 11, 2026. This surgery will allow doctors to remove the tumor and determine exactly what they are dealing with so they can move forward with the right treatment plan.
Unfortunately, the hospital does pre-authorizations just 3-5 days in advance, so the family is now scrambling to come up with the required advance payment of $22,000. This puts the family in the incredibly difficult position of needing to raise funds in order to move forward with care. The thought of postponing surgery until payment can be made is devastating.
Brian is a hardworking man who has always provided for his family through physically demanding work. His wife, KD, pours her heart into helping others stay healthy and strong as a trainer at Burn Boot Camp, while also raising their four incredible children.
Right now, they are doing everything possible to prepare for the fight ahead. They have completely changed his nutrition and are focusing on strengthening his body as they prepare for surgery and the possible need for chemotherapy and radiation.
The family has already had to come up with $5,700 in medical costs, and the required payment for surgery alone is $22,000. Without this surgery, doctors cannot move forward with treatment or determine the full extent of the disease. The future medical costs are still unknown, but right now the most urgent need is raising the funds required to move forward with surgery so treatment can begin.
If you are able to donate, every contribution—no matter the size—will help the family take the next step toward healing. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean just as much.
Most of all, the Landis family appreciates your prayers, encouragement, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
