Hi, my name is Eva and I’m a family friend of the Laffoons. On Monday, July 14, a fire broke out at their home in Port Byron, Illinois. Fire crews responded quickly, but a significant portion of the house was destroyed, leaving the family displaced and facing the difficult journey of rebuilding.

Mily and Travis Laffoon, along with their two children, Sebastián and Ana Marcela, and their beloved dog were home at the time. Thankfully, they all made it out safely. But the fire caused extensive damage to their living space, belongings, and sense of stability.

These photos show the heartbreaking contrast between the family’s warmth and the aftermath of the fire. In an instant, they went from everyday life to losing the comfort and security of their home.
