Help the Kushi's Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Paul Kushi.
I grew up around Asheville, NC with my family in our home in Weaverville. It's been devastating to see the damage that Hurricane Helene has caused to Western North Carolina including to my neighborhood and childhood home where my mother, JoAnne Kushi lives with two of my siblings.
My parent's home took a very hard hit with flooding in the lower level of the house and the garage, causing mold to grow on the furniture, carepets, and up the walls. Most items and furniture are unsalvageable and uninsured.
Large trees have fallen everywhere on their property, including on the roof of their home and totaling her car. Several large trees broke through the roof and collapsed the ceiling, allowing rain and debris into the home, causing much damage, and allowing mold to grow there as well. The sewer line was also broken by uprooted tree roots.
We are incredibly grateful that no one at the home was hurt, and they are continuing to try and clean up everyday but there is a long road ahead of them to rebuild our home to make it more livable again. At this point half of the living space is uninhabitable.
The insurance company won't cover everything in full, and they will not cover any flood damage, removing the many trees, regrading the land and more. Gratefully, close relatives and friends have given them a start, and we are hoping to give them a helping hand to cover the many remaining issues mentioned above. To date, they have all been out of work because of the effects of the hurricane on their workplaces.
Thank you for your time! Any amount you are willing to contribute is greatly appreciated and will be used wisely.
