Help the Kuang Family Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
Hi all,
My name is Jasmine and I am an educator and neighbor to students and families who have been displaced from the 877 Bunker Hill fire on September 13, 2024. With the consent of the family, I am starting this GoFundMe to help support the Kuang family get back on their feet and replace all their lost material items from the fire. The Kuang family lost everything in the fire as it spread throughout the whole third floor of the building.
The Kuang family consists of two hard working immigrant parents and their two children, Melody and Billy. Melody is about to start CSU Fullerton and Billy just entered his second year in high school. Funds will be helped to purchase clothing, home and school supplies, and potentially help with housing.
9/15, 8pm:
The family has been put up at a local motel for now! Melody is still staying with friends for one more night and Billy with me.
They are awaiting updates from local officials, non-profit organizations, and building management about next steps. Government officials have noted that they are looking for another section 8 building to house tenants. Police shared that there will be a time when tenants can go in, and if any of their items have been looted, that they can file a police report for their items.
Through your donations, Melody was also able to do a little shopping for her family. Everyone has a new pair of shoes and some clothes to wear that are their own! Melody leaves to college on Sunday. The local church donated a laptop to her for the start of school.
9/13 5pm:
Red Cross has provided cots at the park. The family has been able to secure one night at a local hotel.
9/13, 4pm:
Currently, the Red Cross is attempting to facilitate some type of shelter situation at our local park. There are no cots or support with showers/ hygiene. Tenants received some food.
