The Koster family has been facing a stretch of challenges that no family should have to carry alone, and they could really use the support of their community right now.

Many people know Andrea as a nurse in the local school district, caring for students every day. Jeff has deep roots here as well, having grown up in this community. The Kosters are the kind of people who quietly step up for others whenever help is needed—now, they’re the ones who need a little help.

Over the past few months, they’ve been hit with back-to-back hardships:

• Severe flooding brought nearly eight inches of water into the main floor of their home, requiring the removal and replacement of drywall, insulation, and flooring. At the same time, a rental unit on their property took on nearly two feet of water, creating an additional set of extensive repairs they’ve had to manage alongside their own home. All of this unfolded while both of their children were home sick with the stomach flu.

• An unexpected veterinary emergency followed shortly after. Their kitten required life-saving surgery for a bowel obstruction, leaving the family with a heartbreaking choice and a large, unplanned expense. They chose to save their pet, but the cost placed significant strain on their finances.

While some flood relief is available, it will not come close to covering the out-of-pocket costs the family has already absorbed. The Kosters have done everything they can to keep life steady for their kids, but the weight of these events has become overwhelming.
