Help the Knepp and Day family after the loss of Gemini

Hello. My name is Brandy and I am the 3rd generational owner of Gemini pools and spas located in Milford Ohio. On Wednesday June 24, 2025 our beloved swimming pool store caught on fire due to an explosion in a shed at the neighboring gun store. The fire quickly spread from their property to ours igniting in the attic and destroying the entire building from the top down. My grandparents Paul and Yvonne Knepp started Gemini pools in 1984 after being residents of the Milford community already for 24 years. My grandparents lived and breathed Milford and wanted to contribute to the community and people someway somehow. That’s where the birth of Gemini Pools came into the picture. Gemini was named after my grandfathers (Gpa) and my star sign. In 1984 they opened their doors in a one room building on state route 28 across from what is now Sunoco and Goodwill. Once the business took off, they were able to expand into a larger building in 1991. The one next door to where we are located now was what we affectionately referred to as the big store. My gpa always taught us “treat your customers like family and they will be customers for life.” He lived by that and it held true for over 40 years. He was known in the community for not just his business and treating everyone he crossed paths with as family but he contributed by hosting events and made donations to the community, police departments, fire and ems, as well as the schools in the Milford area. In February 2020 my gpa lost his battle with cancer after an eleven year fight at the age of 85. My grandma (gma) took over and decided to sell the big store and move into the smaller more manageable building we were currently in. Gma worked in a local nursing home for over 30 years only retiring when my Gpa’s health took a turn and he needed consistent care. They truly were always there for one another even until the end. After my gpa passed she worked at the store every summer from 2020 up to the end of summer in 2024. And when I say work, she worked. It was nothing to see her outside in 100 degree weather sweeping the parking lot or even carrying chlorine. And if you asked her if she needed help you were met with a smile and told no she can do it. And she really could. Sadly in December 2024 my gma went home to Jesus and my gpa after a battle with cancer and multiple strokes. My mother Susan, father Dennis, uncle Paul, and myself took over from there to carry on the legacy my grandparents built so many years ago. During this time my mother discovered she was in complete heart failure requiring many surgeries to try and save her heart as well as discovering she had stage 2 colon cancer. We found out my father had stage 4 prostate cancer and needs a hip replacement. My uncle is in need of a double knee replacement. They continued through all the setbacks of the loss and physical ailments and worked hard to service the community. Their sole income was the pool store and we ran it together as a family. That is now gone. My parents and uncle no longer have any income until insurance starts the payouts and per the adjuster that is not going to be a fast process. This not only affected our business, there were also two other tenants in the building that have now lost their office space and must now relocate and try to start over. We are asking the community that has been SO supportive already if possible to please donate during this time of need to ensure my family is able to stay afloat while we figure out what our future holds. All donations will be divided amongst my mom, dad, and uncle to help with their normal household bills and expenses. Jesus and the spirit of my grandparents helped my mother, uncle, and 13 year old daughter walk out of a burning building, now let’s come together Milford strong and help them survive while we sort this out. Thank you all for reading and God bless. ❤️
