Help the Kirklands after Zac's brain injury
Donation protected
On September 28, 2019, Zac was rushed to the hospital and then to the neurological SICU at Brookwood Hospital. He was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis (which is a long medical term for inflammation of the brain and its membranes). Zac spent 4 weeks in the hospital between SICU and rehab. While in the hospital, he was laid off from his job, and his family insurance coverage was cancelled. Since that time, Zac has spent weeks at a time in the hospital and continues to suffer the effects of brain damage from not only the encephalitis but also from an ongoing autoimmune disease that is currently undiagnosable and from intracranial hypertension.
If you've ever known anyone who has experienced a brain injury, you know the impact it can have. Zac continues to experience devastating headaches and fatigue, memory loss, confusion, depression, anxiety, and extreme panic attacks. He's unable to work, and Amanda now spends 100% of her time caring for Zac and their 12-year-old daughter.
Please, if you can spare a few dollars to help this family out, any amount is more than appreciated. The family has over $100,000 in medical bills, and they are 4 months behind on utilities and rent and are facing eviction. They have about exhausted avenues with utilities assistance and applied for disability all the way back in November (which is a slow process even without COVID19 slowing everything down). Zac and Amanda, from the bottom of their hearts, thank those who have reached out and offered to help. They deeply appreciate the calls/texts, food, and prayers. Thank you for reading this and for considering this family.
