Recovery & Support for the Kirkland Family
Donation protected
The Kirkland's have been Altadena residents for nearly 40 years and have been impacted by the Eaton fire.
My name is Ariel Kirkland, born and raised in Pasadena/Altadena, CA. After being diagnosed with kidney failure and starting dialysis in 2022, I moved back home. I'm so grateful that I had a home to move back to receive the care and support that I needed to make it through this part of my journey. And now that safety net and support is in grave danger.
Although the Kirklands were blessed to be a part of the 5% of homes that remain in historic Altadena, CA, we need your support to maintain our piece of history. My father is self-employed and the only provider for our home. My mother is retired and the full-time caretaker for my grandmother who has dementia, and I am on disability. We are asking for support as we figure out how to move forward collectively.
My heroic parents and a few neighbors stayed behind to save our home from the fire and are now safeguarding our property from looters. The National Guard has come in and blocked everything off, and they're not allowed in or out. They are there exposed to the elements with no clean water, electricity, or gas. The Sheriff's Department was allowing people to bring supplies and hot food. I was just informed yesterday that they even want to stop that.
Your help will allow us to address the many aspects of recovery and support our family through this crisis. Thank you and God bless us all.
Love,
Donald, Sr., Selena, Ariel, Irene, Waffles (German Shepard), Aaron Rogers (Dachshund) and Luigi (Shih Tzu)
