Update- First, we want to thank those of you who have already contributed. Words cannot express how meaningful this is. This is a family who will never ask for a hand-out. Please know that your love, support and generosity is going to help such a deserving family.
I’m increasing the goal as I’ve been asked by many to do so because their expenses keep piling up. Thank you all so much for supporting these amazing people!
Original - My name is Mendy and I'm fundraising for dear friends who have lost their home due to Hurricane Ida flooding in Springfield, NJ. Robin was a volunteer EMT for over 15 years and is currently a healthcare worker. She has the biggest heart, and is always giving to others. Robin has continued to work through the pandemic without hesitation, and still regularly checked in on friends and family to make sure they had all they needed. Dan is a retired fireman who saved countless lives throughout his career, and even after retiring, still helps those in need, even on the day their home was overtaken by flood waters. They had less than a half hour from the time they began seeing water in their basement to the time they were being rescued by boat with their dogs. The only blessing is that they all got out safely. The house foundation was damaged extensively as flood waters rose to waist-height on the first floor. Everything in the basement and first floor was destroyed. Fortunately their daughters, Ashley and Danielle are close and able to help physically and emotionally as they have a long road ahead. Ashley, who is a nurse at Morristown Medical Center, has welcomed them into her 1-bedroom apartment until they can find other arrangements. They are in need of housing, household necessities and basic personal needs including clothing, etc. I hope that others will find it in their hearts to help this family of heroes.
