Help the Kingsbury Family in Their Fight Against ALS

Donation protected
Help us rally around the Kingsbury family as they face the heartbreaking reality of ALS.
Jonathan and Crystal Kingsbury, along with their two beautiful daughters, are facing one of life’s most difficult battles. In 2022, Jonathan’s symptoms started with drop foot and multiple falls leaving his family traumatized and looking for answers. Shortly after he was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)—a progressive, terminal disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, eventually robbing individuals of their ability to speak, move, and even breathe. We have witnessed firsthand, how ALS has turned their world upside down since Jon’s diagnosis; his wife and their two young children, who are witnessing the effects of this disease every single day.
As Friends of the family, we have had the pleasure of knowing the Kingsburys for many years. They are the most genuine, kind, empathetic, loving people who are always going out of their way to lift up those around them. In the years that we have known both Jon and Crystal, they are one of the most generous and giving families- you really won’t find kinder people. In a word, Jon is a fighter and Crystal is a giver. Jon’s incredible strength and resilience in the face of ALS are awe-inspiring. And, despite the hand they have been dealt, Crystal has continued to give - not only as full-time caregiver to Jon and her children, but beyond, to the community as a volunteer, mentor, and friend. If it’s a family gathering, she’s hosting it; if it’s a meal train, she’s contributing to it; if it’s a drive, she’s donating to it; if it’s a program for local youth, she’s volunteering to help spearhead it. I don’t know where she finds the energy, but somehow, she does. Jon is fighting tirelessly to slow progression and seek treatments to keep his strength to be here for his girls. Jon has devoted much of his career to helping small businesses and supporting charitable services for veterans, churches, and local causes. There is no one more deserving than a family fighting one of the world’s most devastating diseases, and no family who has given more to others.
Over the past three years, we’ve watched them face this diagnosis with unimaginable strength, love, and resilience- and they continue to maintain a positive outlook on life despite the day-to-day challenges.

Why They Need Your Help
Jon has since lost his physical independence and his ability to speak and is experiencing progressive loss of motor function. Although he has fought to continue working (luckily in an IT industry that is compatible with his disease), it is only a matter of time. Crystal has taken a leave from work to become Jon’s full-time caregiver. They have spent the last 3 years fighting this disease on their own, but the financial responsibility that comes with living with ALS is unsustainable - especially for a young family with children. My hope is that this community, friends and strangers alike, can show this wonderful family support and mirror back to them even a fraction of the kindness that Jon and Crystal are constantly putting out into the world.
They have always shown up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for them. We kindly ask for your support in helping fund the medical treatments not covered by insurance—treatments that could slow the progression of this disease and offer the priceless gift of time: time to make memories with his loved ones, time to pursue a cure, and time to truly live.

Where Your Donations Will Go
Funds raised will help cover:
• Medical care and equipment not covered by insurance
• Monthly supplements and treatment
• In-home care and caregiving support
• Communication and mobility devices
• Home modifications for accessibility
• Medical bills, legal fees, and debt
ALS comes with staggering costs, and despite their strength, this young family cannot bear this burden alone. According to the ALS Association, the average out-of-pocket cost to care for someone with ALS is $250,000. That is per year. ALS continues to take everything that they have worked so hard for.

Let’s Lift Them Up
It took a lot for Jon and Crystal to say “yes” to fundraising. But now we are breathing a sigh of relief, as they put off asking for help for as long as possible, long after being encouraged by those around them, who have witnessed an utter failure of our healthcare system to provide adequate support.
They are humble, selfless people who have given so much without ever expecting anything in return. But as friends, family, neighbors, and compassionate strangers, we can give them the support they so deeply deserve.
This campaign will be ongoing and updated as we reach each goal. Please donate what you can. Every dollar helps—and every share spreads the word.
Let’s wrap this remarkable family in the love and support they’ve always extended to others.
Thank you for being part of their village.
