Help the Kings Repair Their Home After Hurricane Debby

Hurricane Debby came through Charlotte earlier this month. Many of us were lucky to not have any major damage from the storm, but my dear friends, Madison and Graham King, unfortunately woke up in the middle of the night to a large tree falling on their house. The giant pine tree was only a few feet away from splitting their home in two. We are beyond grateful they are safe and that it wasn't much worse, but never the less there is still major damage.

They are still waiting to receive a final estimate from their home insurance company, so it is unclear how much of the costs insurance will cover. At this time, we do know at the very least they will be responsible for over $5500 out of pocket for their deductible. We are starting this fundraiser at $4500 and will increase the goal if/when we have more information of additional out of pocket expenses.

At this time, insurance has quoted repairs at $17,000 while the repair companies have quoted it over $50,000. The Kings are in the process of contacting insurance to update the estimate, but in the event insurance refuses to raise the estimate, Madison & Graham would have to make up the difference.

We will keep everyone who donates updated on the progress of repairs when they are able move forward. The repairs needed so far have been tree removal, water damage restoration, roofing repair, framing repair, and siding repair.

Right now, their roof is tarped and they are safe, but this is by no means a long term solution. Please consider supporting them during this difficult, unexpected circumstance! Any amount is helpful!
